Bolivia. The Mayor's Office and the Regional Health Service of El Alto (Seres) agreed that a project should be executed for the installation of surveillance cameras in health centers and hospitals in the city.
The municipal secretary of Human Development, Nancy Conde, lamented that insecurity is one of the characteristics of the city and that it extends even to health care centers.
"We know that our centers do not have security cameras, they lack them, they do not have permanent guards, we need to reformulate all this and make it more stable, so the installation of cameras will be proposed," he said.
For his part, the director of Seres, Jimmy Centellas, said that there is a general concern of the medical community and that the installation of these devices in centers where there are children and pregnant women should be prioritized. "We are concerned with safety in all hospitals, we talk to some directors and what we are seeing as one of the measures is to reduce admissions, that is, to have fewer entrance and exit doors for visitors."
He also pointed out that there should be permanent training on security and control issues and specific personnel for this area.
"There will be a stricter control where there are deliveries, the truth is that in all centers, in all hospitals we need to control all services, but we must give greater priority to the maternal and child area," he added.
The municipal director of Health, Flora Poma, indicated that the possibility of hiring more security guards in all health centers in the city is being analyzed.
