Digital cameras monitor Iguazu Falls

Argentina. The Iguazu National Park, in Argentina, joined the set of resorts that are investing in security for visitors. The concessionaire Iguazú Argentina, which has under its command mainly natural circuits, restaurants and other locations within the Iguazú National Park, decided to implement an advanced video surveillance system consisting of 65 cameras located at different points.

In this way, it has been possible to efficiently accompany the demands of the park, both in the open places and inside premises, restaurants, offices and other dependencies.

Setting a trend, other natural attractions in different parts of the world that have also recently incorporated Axis Communications cameras, such as table mountain, located in South Africa. In this project, focused mainly on monitoring, both the base and the upper tourist circuit were implemented, which is reached by cable car or through an excursion. On the other hand, the island  of Margarita, one of the main tourist attractions in Venezuela, also installed a system of 100 Axis cameras with a preventive purpose, against potential theft or acts of vandalism in natural areas.

In the local case, one of the models chosen for the Iguazú Argentina project was AXIS M1104, a network camera with HDTV resolution, capturing the beauty of the place with high image quality. Another advantage of this equipment is that thanks to its horizontal/vertical movement and digital zoom, it allows a cropped shot of the complete image for viewing or recording, which makes it easier to detect any incident or anomaly in the place.

Another camera chosen for this project was AXIS P1343-E, which provides excellent outdoor image quality thanks to its day/night vision functionality and features a rugged design.

"Axis cameras give us everything we need to keep up with the park's demand. With them we make the tourist feel safe, and we can respond efficiently to the needs of each sector. One of the great advantages is that, despite the constant electrical problems in the region, the operation of the system is very good," says Warley Alves Goes, Systems Assistant of Iguazú Argentina.

For Juan Pablo Tavil, Axis sales manager for the Southern Cone, "thanks to state-of-the-art technologies, it is possible to provide a much more reliable environment so that each visitor can enjoy tourist destinations in a relaxed way and knowing that they are protected from possible unexpected situations that may occur".
