International. The Emirati Centre for transport regulation recently announced the installation of CCTV cameras inside all taxis in this capital, to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.
The entity explained that the measure will be implemented as soon as possible, in two stages, and aims to monitor the routes and guarantee the physical integrity of drivers and customers who circulate through Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, it is anticipated that the placement of CCTV cameras will be an important tool to increase the efficiency of the process of returning lost and found to owners on board rented vehicles.
In the initial phase, the installation of the CCTV systems will be done only in 100 taxis of various types to ensure their quality and effectiveness, while the second stage will be executed one year after the beginning of the first and will include the installation of cameras to the entire automotive fleet.
The general manager of the Center for transport regulation, Mohamed Darwish al Qemzi, stressed that the initiative is part of the efforts to regulate the services offered to the public in order to guarantee the highest standards of safety and quality.
