ONVIF launches the first Customer Test Tool for S, G and C Profiles

Latin America. ONVIF today announced the launch of its first Customer Test Tool, which verifies whether customers meet the specifications for ONVIF's S, G and C Profiles. The specifications of the new test tool are available to members on the ONVIF website, in the Developer Forum.

The ONVIF Customer Test Tool allows customers' hardware and software-based systems, such as video management systems, building management systems, physical security information management (PSIM) systems, to be checked for compliance with the ONVIF profile specifications. The Customer Test Tool determines compliance or compliance with the mandatory requirements of Profiles S, G and C.

Previously, to obtain a Declaration of Conformity, manufacturers had to check that their customer worked successfully with a minimum of three individual profile devices. The new test tool allows ONVIF to verify that the customer has been tested with multiple devices and that the customer meets the compliance specifications.

"The ONVIF Customer Test Tool was created to respond to the community's security call to increase interoperability and accountability," said Hugo Brisson, Chair of the ONVIF Test Working Group. "This initial release of the Customer Test Tool brings ONVIF one step closer to having a transparent and integrated process for achieving ONFIV compliance."

The Customer Test Tool verifies compliance with the mandatory requirements of Profile S for video transmission and configuration, Profile G for search recording, and Profile C for door/access point control. Conditional specifications for each profile will be included in the second version of the Customer Test Tool, currently scheduled for summer 2015. New service versions will be introduced every six months to extend the trial scope of the Customer Test Tool and address functionality improvements.

With more than 500 members on six continents and more than 4,000 compatible products, ONVIF is the largest organization of its kind in the world. Since its inception in 2008, the organization has seen its membership grow by 25-50% each year, and the number of compatible products has increased by 250% in the last three years.

More information about ONVIF, including its members and compatible products, is available on the ONVIF website: www.onvif.org.
