Argentina. The Chilean chain Sodimac, which sells products for the refurbishment and construction of homes and shops and has more than 130 stores in South America, decided to install an advanced video surveillance system in its new store located in the city of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires.
With this, the 9,000 m2 that the store has are monitored 24 hours a day, ensuring the integrity of both the merchandise, which includes everything from whirlpools to concrete structures, as well as employees and customers. The 80 Axis Communications Network Cameras installed inside, in the perimeter area and in the parking lot of this branch offer high-resolution images and tools available to solve any unforeseen event instantly, from the remote operations room or through directives from the managers themselves.
They have Milestone software, which allows to obtain different analytics with relevant data. The integrator Exanet, Axis' partner in Argentina, was responsible for the project and Axister the distributor in charge. "Axis cameras have allowed us to implement an innovative system for our company, which gives the possibility of detecting fraud and theft that may occur inside the store, as well as obtaining certain analytics of commercial interest," says Juan Manuel Riavec, Deputy Manager of Prevention at Sodimac.
Among the camera models chosen for this project, AXIS M3204 and AXIS P5534 domes stand out, both with HDTV resolution, and AXIS P1354 with Lightfinder technology that maintains colors even in low light areas. AXIS M3006-V cameras were also installed, ideal for people counting and with anti-vandalism protection and Full HD image.
"IP cameras provide better image quality and are coupled to software that makes it easier for us to access the system remotely from personal devices," adds Riavec.
The case of the La Plata branch of Sodimac represents a necessary technological leap at the corporate level, which allows to keep the stock safe, as well as to improve different commercial aspects that help the growth of the business. The project was carried out in a record time of thirty days, in which we worked hard so that the operation of the same is guaranteed at the time the store was inaugurated.
