Schneider Electric, 9th place among the 100 most sustainable companies

International. Schneider Electric ranked ninth in the list of the 100 most sustainable companies in the world in 2015 ("The Global 100"). This ranking was launched by Corporate Knights, a Toronto-based media and investment consulting firm, on January 21, 2015.

The companies ranked as part of the list of the global 100 are the best performing companies in their respective sectors, chosen from an initial universe of 4,609, the companies that appear on the list have a market capitalization of more than 2 billion USD. The global 100 are determined using twelve quantitative sustainability indicators, including the amount of revenue companies generate per unit of energy consumed and the rate of time lost due to injury.

"The Top 100 represents pioneering companies creating new paths to do more with less," said Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights.

"Schneider Electric was ranked in the top 10 for the second year in a row as a continuous recognition of sustainability. Day by day, Schneider Electric checks the convergence of economic, environmental and social interests. To have a meaningful impact and initiate lasting change, a performance metric is required. That's why Schneider Electric has defined specific targets and measures its results each quarter with the Planet & Society barometer," said Jean-Pascal Tricoire, President and CEO of Schneider Electric.

Schneider Electric has created the Planet & Society barometer for 10 years to measure its sustainable performance. The Planet & Society barometer has been the standard for measuring the company's sustainability since 2005 with targets set for three-year periods and quarterly results for key performance indicators.

With each business program, Schneider Electric defines a new Planet & Society barometer. The barometer uses a measurement scale of 10 with respect to overall progress. The final result of the Planet & Society barometer for the 2012-2014 corporate program will be published on February 19, 2015; however, the barometer already exceeded its 3-year goal of 8/10 and achieved 9.20 (out of a maximum scale of 10) in the third quarter of 2014.
