Honduras. The government of this country announced the installation of 2,000 security cameras in the Sula Valley region.
The equipment will be installed from January through the Ministry of Security as part of the 911 rapid response system that will begin operating this year.
The project was approved in the framework of the last session of the National Defense and Security Council (CNDS) in 2014 that took place at the Presidential House. The cameras will be installed in municipalities such as San Pedro Sula, El Progreso, La Lima, Choloma, Villa Nueva, Puerto Cortés, Omoa and the rest of the municipalities that make up the Sula Valley.
In a press appearance, President Juan Orlando Hernández reported that the project contemplates the formation of an intelligent system that will allow access to images in real time.
It will also facilitate the reliable reading of vehicle plates, which is intended to strengthen the prosecution of all crimes committed in the area.
Hernández explained that with the installation of the cameras, the structuring of the 911 emergency line will be strengthened, which will integrate the Police, Armed Forces, Copeco, Firefighters, Red Cross, Green Cross, Health, among others.
