Ecuador. The Integrated Security Service ECU-911, in Ibarra, was inaugurated. The system uses a technological platform that articulates surveillance cameras, distress buttons, community alarms, reception and sending of resources to attend emergencies.
The service hosts the cantons of Ibarra, Otavalo, Antonio Ante, Cotacachi, Pimampiro and Urcuquí, which make up Imbabura. In addition, ecu-911 will serve neighboring areas of the provinces of Esmeraldas, Carchi and Sucumbíos, on the border with Colombia.
The zonal center has 80 cameras at the provincial level. These include the 19 cameras called eagle eyes of the Municipality of Ibarra and the 13 of Antonio Ante. It also has 21 consoles from where the necessary response units will be sent to attend the emergency, 14 call reception consoles, 15 video surveillance consoles.
The chambers have been located in strategic areas, with a high citizen and tourist influx. The ECU-911 building is installed in the Central Boulevard Park, at the entrance to the capital of Imbabura. The construction and equipment cost USD 14.3 million, according to Fernando Cordero, coordinating minister of Security. While the president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, who inaugurated the work, assured that more than half a million people will benefit in Imbabura with this new security system.
