Axis Communications celebrates five years of operation in South America

altSouth America. The South American offices of Axis Communications, world leader in network video surveillance solutions and creator of the IP camera, are five years old and there are plenty of reasons to celebrate. By the end of this year, the operation will have 45 own professionals and more than 3,200 integrators.

Although it already had distribution and partners in the region since 1997, just one year after inventing the IP camera, it was in 2008 that Axis opened its office in Brazil. In that year, Alessandra Faria, current director for all of South America, started the operation and, since then, has expanded with collaborators in other countries, such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru.

"Together with our headquarters in Sweden, we drew up a long-term plan and programmed our actions for these first five years," says Alessandra. "The strategies and tools to obtain success worked and we have already developed a new plan of goals until 2020 for the video surveillance market in South America," adds the director.

Since Axis is dedicated exclusively to the electronic security market, its more than 40 collaborators support projects in all countries and guarantee attention to partners and end customers. In addition to professionals in the areas of sales, distribution, engineering, marketing and new business development located in Hispanic countries, the team is supported by regional collaborators who work in the São Paulo office and visit the rest of the countries on a constant basis. In Argentina, Axis operates its sales through three wholesale distributors: Anixter, BGH and Solution Box.

In these years of activity in South America, Axis has clients of great importance and relevant projects in the video surveillance industry, in all verticals, such as urban monitoring (Municipality of Antioquia, Ensenada, Junín, Berazategui), retail (Ripley Stores), transport (Flechabus), education (Sabana University), health (San Vicente de Paul Hospital) and industry (Minera Vale), among others.

In addition to the growth in the number of partners and customers in South America, the company also contributed to local training and professionalization. With market education among its main pillars, in 2012 alone, the company trained 1,022 people in the region. This year, until July, 20 Axis Academy trainings were held in the region, offered by the Axis team itself, for 526 professionals.
