According to the mayor of Santa Ana, Joaquín Alfredo Peñate, this agency planned to install before Holy Week around 20 video surveillance cameras in the surroundings of the historic center and the Villa Morena promenade. This in order to prevent criminality and acts of violence during religious holidays.
However, the works will have to wait two more weeks, due to another inconvenience that adds to the delays suffered last year by the bidding process of the work.
On this occasion, the mayor said that "for the moment it will not be possible to install the cameras before Easter because the time is already too short and the conditions of the poles are not the most appropriate. We will do everything with peace of mind within 15 days to ensure things go well."
Although the work was promised by the end of May last year and to date it has not yet been completed, Peñate assured that the mayor's office will not rush to do a bad job.
"We would have liked to have everything ready for Easter because we know the large number of people who come to the historic center, but we prefer to wait and do a good job and not something fast that in the long run goes wrong," said the mayor of Santa Fe.
On the other hand, the coordinator of the tourist office of Santa Ana, Cecibel Lau, regretted that video surveillance can not be ready before the festivities of the time, but hopes that the new system will yield good results in a short time and contribute to local tourism to develop even more.
