Dominican Republic. The installation of 600 security cameras, the construction of four large barracks and the purchase of new vehicles are part of the measures that the Police plan to adopt soon to face insecurity and criminal acts in the Dominican Republic.
This was announced by the chief of police, Major General José Polanco Gómez during a meeting with the members of the Interior and Police Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, to whom he offered details of the most important acts of violence that occurred in the country.
He said that in the 2013 budget the Government included an item for the purchase of the first 400 cameras, which will be installed in the most important cities.
He also said that in February two thousand new agents will enter and that another similar number will do so in July, to reinforce the preventive police. He complained about the low cultural training of the aspirants to enter the Police, and said that the institution will emphasize the training of its members.
