Peru. The provincial municipality of Chiclayo will acquire 35 new video surveillance cameras to reinforce citizen security and reduce criminal activity in this northern town, mayor Roberto Torres announced.
He pointed out that the teams and mobile units will be incorporated into the citizen security service for patrolling against crime.
He pointed out that the call for public bidding for the purchase of the cameras appears on the website of the commune.
He mentioned that the municipality will disburse a budget of two million 200,000 nuevos soles (US$850,000) for the purchase of the cameras.
These equipment will be used by the Serenazgo and the National Police.
The burgomaster and his counterpart from the district of Leonardo Ortiz, Raúl Cieza, had a meeting with the head of the II Territorial Police Directorate in Chiclayo, Jorge Linares, in order to coordinate efforts on the issue of citizen security.
The citizen security service of Chiclayo currently has 20 video surveillance cameras.
