Colombia. With the installation of surveillance cameras, and the application of new strategies, the municipalities of Pradera and El Cerrito seek to solve their security problems.
In the first case, Mayor Adolfo León Escobar indicated that before the end of this semester there will be 21 cameras in key points of the town "to achieve what we have."
He added that with the presence of specialized police groups, such as Fucur and Emcar, and the support of the Army, work will be done to lower crime rates.
For his part, the Secretary of Municipal Government, Carlos Leyton, said that the investment for the purchase of cameras and other equipment, in addition to the control room, will be about US $ 1 million of which the local administration will contribute 10%.
Meanwhile, in El Cerrito it is planned to allocate a similar figure for the purchase of 30 security cameras and equipment. According to the mayor, Mauricio Martínez Prado, about US$800,000 dollars will be invested for this purpose.
"It is expected that the cameras will give very good results to implement them later in the population centers of the corregimientos El Placer and Santa Elena," he added.
