Mexico. The City Council of Guadalajara opened a tender to acquire around 250 portable video cameras for public security purposes, with which the same number of patrols of the Secretariat of Citizen Security will be equipped.
According to Héctor Salas Barba, Secretary of Administration, "its technology will allow the visual records of the units to be transmitted in real time to the Communications and Electronic Observation Center (Cecoe) of the Police of this town, from where the fixed cameras installed in different parts of the city are already monitored.
Different benefits are expected, among these, a more thorough supervision and direction on the operations implemented by the Guadalajara Police and their patrolling of the streets in general, which will begin to be followed visually from the Cecoe (in addition to the current global positioning system of the units (GPS, for its acronym in English).
The winner of the public tender will be officially defined next week, since the proposals received are still to be analyzed both in their economic and technical edge, and in this the Secretariat of Citizen Security itself participates.
