Argentina. The governor of the Province of Neuquén, in Argentina, announced the purchase of the first 250 security video cameras of a plan that seeks to install 500 cameras in the city of Neuquén with the aim of reducing insecurity and serving as evidence against probable crimes.Governor Jorge Sapag explained that the cameras will be part of "our security plan that we began with San Martín de los Andes and Villa La Angostura, where we have had very good results and we had already announced that we would extend to other cities and we decided to start that extension through the city of Neuquén."
Sapag also pointed out that the video cameras are in addition to those installed in advance, and will be located "on public roads in arteries where banking and financial entities work."
The president explained that the purpose of such devices will be "to help the police in the functions of surveillance and prevention of crime and also for the test in the investigation and clarification of criminal acts."
The devices will be accompanied by the acquisition of about a hundred patrol cars "because we want to surround the crime that is working with more and more technology."
