. ASIS International reported that it has already complied with the first meeting of the Technical Committee for the elaboration of an American National Standard that supports the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers (IcoC).
The ASIS. PSC.1: Management Systems for the Quality of Operations of Private Security Companies – Requirements Guidance, will provide a mechanism for private security companies (PSCs), and their clients, to provide demonstrable commitment, compliance and accountability to the principles set forth in the ICoC.
Composed of more than 200 members from 24 countries, the Technical Committee includes a balance sheet of clients, service providers, non-governmental organizations and rights groups from the public and private sectors.
"This international effort demonstrates the importance of this sector of the industry around the world. It brings together stakeholders to ensure the quality of the services provided by the PSC, while maintaining the security of its operations within a framework that guarantees respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms," said Marc Siegel, commissioner of the global standard initiative and director of the Technical Committee of ASIS International.
