A strategic technology agreement was signed by Pelco and Cisco to continue the joint development of the new high-definition (HD) Internet Protocol (IP) security cameras, built on Pelco's technology platform, Sarix.The new surveillance camera co-brand will feature Pelco imagery and Cisco IP connectivity to deliver the next generation of high-definition IP video security cameras, which they expect to be available by the end of 2009.
Bill Stuntz, general manager and vice president of Cisco's security business unit, said that after their extensive evaluation, they discovered that Pelco has developed one of the most advanced HD imaging systems in the global security market, which will facilitate, together with Cisco's experience, to provide effective and effective solutions to customers.
Pelco will initially provide Cisco with a line of high-definition imaging technology that will be used to expand Cisco's camera series and the core network of video surveillance systems. The co-brand's cameras (Cisco and Pelco) will feature the functionality of Sarix technology, including video frame rate, H.264 compression, embedded analytics, auto-focus and easy installation.
