This research also envisions that network cameras will be the primary hardware platform for hosting analytics with the smart network camera, forecasting faster growth than that of the smart video encoder placed in the NVR and DVR market.
In addition, IMS Research states that there are now many vendors offering VCA solutions in cameras and predicts that this is a trend that will continue. Additionally, it states that the main advantage of the analysis camera is based on the preservation of bandwidth through the pre-transmission process that eliminates the need to transmit all the captured video to the centralized servers for analysis and thus reduces storage costs.
IMS Research forecasts that within three years ship cargoes will exceed 2.5 million units of IP cameras with VCA, however it is assumed that more than 60 percent of smart cameras will have only low-end analysis such as the tamper detection camera and the
medical examination systems.
