Michael has been a member of ASIS since 1978, has served for several years in training the Milwaukee chapter. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Health Care Safety from 1989 to 1999 and chaired the commission in 1997, 1998 and 1999. He was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors
of ASIS in 2000 and was re-elected in 2001 and 2002.
The new President of ASIS assures that he sees many changes and opportunities for the Association, as well as for professionals in 2009. It also believes that to know the needs of members it is necessary to be creative in terms of partnerships and resource development, establishing relationships.

Among its objectives are to continue with the development of standards and guidelines, the growth of CSO meetings and creative approaches to education, including the form of delivery, themes and location, as well as the relationship with the dissemination efforts of ASIS International.
