United States. In July, the Internet search engine Google acquired GrandCentral Communications (a company specialized in VOICE IP telephony), with the purpose of collaborating with the exchange of information between its users. GrandCentral's "A Number for Life" company, which was born in 2005, allows customers to have their phone numbers and voicemails on the web as if they had a single account, so the numbers are linked to the person and not to the physical places. Google's field of action involves competing with Yahoo Inc, which acquired Dialpad in June 2005, and with eBay's Skype, a pioneer in the Internet telephony market that has more than 200 million users.
