Changes and new positions at Westcon-Comstor

Fernando Lopez

Mexico. Westcon-Comstor, a value-added technology distributor of solutions in the areas of Security, Collaboration, Networks and Data Centers, announced the appointment of Fernando López as the new General Director of MCA, a region that encompasses more than 20 countries in Latin America.

Under this new position, López has the firm intention of homogenizing processes, detecting opportunities to acquire other companies in the region, standardizing work teams, and aiming for growth with defined methods.

Within three years, Lopez aims to:

  • Achieve distribution as a Comstor throughout the region and for that it will detect companies that can integrate the corporation.
  • Ensure the growth expected by the organization by coordinating an operation of more than 280 multicultural people and in different time zones.
  • Move towards a world of solutions, where there is no talk of product, or numbers of parts, or licenses, but of integrated solutions.
  • Strengthen its presence in countries such as Colombia (where it resides), Peru and Ecuador; grow in Central America and the Caribbean; and penetrate Argentina and Chile.

The executive envisions "a new era in more virtual mode, where the physical migrates to the Cloud, where customers only require the plug & play without thinking about the back-end. We are prepared with the most complete portfolio of solutions for Latin America."

Lopez's promotion to the MCA region (all Latin American countries, except Brazil and Mexico) is due to the result of his performance at Westcon-Comstor Mexico, where he spent 18 months and achieved growth of 20% per year on the Westcon side, and becoming the main distributor of Cisco through Comstor.

The manager had a three-year work plan, but managed in less than 8 months to optimize the entire operation of the company in Mexico, thanks to the focus on improving the service to its customers, unified its processes and formed an unparalleled team of managers. "We achieved what was sought: efficiency (we did more with the same thing, that is, we increased productivity) and effectiveness (fulfilling what was promised). Thanks also to the fact that we solved all the communication problems by unifying the path in a single message, in a unique culture. "The key to success of having a shrewd company is also to be flexible and serve its people."

On the entry of Jorge Tsuchiya as Managing Director of Westcon – Comtor in Mexico, López exclaimed: "We are happy to receive Jorge, in him we see the next step in the operation that will allow us to grow in the next 6 months significantly. From different positions he is an experienced person who knows customers and manufacturers who, with his open aptitude in learning our business model, understands the challenges in Mexico. His leadership skills and knowledge will be key to the expansion of our company."
