To help victims of the earthquake that struck Haiti, Mission 500, a non-profit organization affiliated with World Vision, is urging members of the security industry to join forces to help the Caribbean country.Magalie Boyer, a staff member at World Vision, said that when she felt the earthquake it looked like a truck had hit a wall. "It has been the strongest earthquake in the history of the area and there is great damage in the city, people spend the night in the streets," he adds.
Prior to this natural disaster, Mission 500 planned fundraising at the ING Marathon to be held in Miami on January 31, in order to help sponsor children in need as part of Operation Hope for Haiti. Today, Mission 500 already has more than $11,000 in pledges.
The organization is also coordinating a 5-kilometer charity race at ISC West in Las Vegas on March 25. Altronix Corporation, HID, LRG Marketing Communications and Morse Watchmans are founding sponsors to date.
