Argentina. In order to prevent the theft of babies, Deputy Mirta Díaz, from Mendoza, presented an initiative that seeks the identification and control of mothers and newborn babies through fingerprints both within the hospitals of the province, as well as at the time of leaving the institution. The legislator proposed this method of identification after a gang that performed clandestine abortions and was dedicated to the alleged sale of newborn babies was captured.
This system compares the fingerprints of the mother and the child and then checks if they are the same people as at the time they leave the hospital.
