Colombia. 32 video cameras will monitor the streets of Medellín as part of the municipal authorities' project to improve the city's mobility.These cameras are part of the Traffic Control Center inaugurated at the end of March by the Mayor of the town, Alonso Salazar, which is located in the municipal administration building. This center will be responsible for providing all the information on the behavior of drivers, the location of traffic agents and the state of traffic lights.
This, the first stage of the Control Center, had an investment of $ 2,800 million and generated eight new jobs. The second stage, which will be developed in a few months, will consist of the replacement of the Traffic Light Network of Medellín, the expansion of the network of video cameras that will allow photo fines for violations of red light, speed, seat belt, vehicle restriction and others; a central software for the control and elaboration of truthful and legalized comparendos.
The entire control project will have an estimated cost of 35 billion dollars, however the municipal mayor's office will seek funding with countries such as France and Australia.
