Guatemala. The civil society of the Zona Viva of Guatemala City proposed to the authorities the installation of a security system within which are the implementation of cameras, two control centers and a crisis room in five areas of the capital based on
wireless technology.
Additionally, this plan contemplates the installation of a WiMAX communications network, a wireless data transmission standard that provides access within a radius of up to 48 kilometers, with technology that does not require direct vision with the base stations. In addition, between 200 and 500 cameras would be placed.
Urban buses would also have cameras in order to reduce the crime rate in this type of transport and help monitor the movement of passengers.
