The three thousand cameras will be located in strategic places in the country such as roads, public parks, centers of greater commercial activity, beaches and borders, allowing the recording of the illicit actions of thieves, traffickers, kidnappers and other criminals.
It should be noted that the recorded images can only be used to identify possible suspects and will not be used for purposes other than the investigation of infractions, criminal offenses and contraventions, as explained by the President of the Republic, Óscar Arias.
This project, the first of its kind in Latin America, contemplates an investment of $ 18,000,000, will be financed with a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) to the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE).
