Brazil. 17.5 million people connected to the Internet last May from their homes in Brazil, 13% more than in April, according to information provided by the Brazilian Institute of Public Opinion and Statistics (IBOPE). Likewise, the NetRatings study carried out in parallel in the United States, Japan, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, recorded that Brazilians are the ones who surf the net the most, with an average time per person of 22 hours and 43 minutes per month.
According to the coordinator of the IBOPE analysis, Alexandre Magalhaes, this increase is due to a growth in the number of Internet connections, the massification of broadband use, the reduction in the price of computers and the actions of the government to stimulate digital inclusion.
