Argentina. A wireless security system has been implemented as a comprehensive security solution that serves to protect a large shopping mall while saving the customer money.
The Paseo del Puente is a 9,000 m² open-air shopping centre. It houses a supermarket, a gym, several shops and a large restaurant area. The client was looking for a security system to safeguard key access points during non-working hours, while minimizing the need for on-site security personnel.
Challenge
The Paseo del Puente shopping center presented unique security challenges due to its size, multiple access points, and diverse facilities. Traditional security systems are rarely deployed in such large spaces due to their high cost and complexity.
The client intended to optimize security expenses by partially replacing physical guards with an advanced, integrated security solution. The system needed to provide access control to critical areas, such as terraces, car parks, pedestrian entrances, stairs and lifts, while also implementing fire and CO detection in the catering area. Most importantly, the solution needed to be installed without significant renovations and remain effective in harsh environments with numerous sources of radio interference.
Solution
Leser Electronic Security proposed Ajax as the ideal solution for a rapidly deployable and reliable security system, capable of covering large installations. As the construction of the shopping centre was nearing completion and there was no infrastructure planned for a wired solution, Ajax wireless technology turned out to be the only practical option. Ajax devices offered impressive communication range and exceptional performance, effectively securing large and difficult installations.
The core of the system is the Hub 2 Plus Jeweller, designed for complex installations. It can manage up to 200 devices and provides a signal range of up to 2,000 meters. The hub also supports up to 25 security groups and 200 users, allowing you to organize security zones and staff access, which is ideal for large properties such as shopping malls.
In addition, two ReX 2 Jeweller repeaters were installed to ensure stable communication in the large installations and to counteract radio interference caused by walls and floors. Compatible with more than 60 devices on site, the ReX 2 Jeweller expanded the system's coverage and provided reliable signal transmission between the detectors and the hub.
To reinforce security in the office spaces, six DoorProtect Jeweller detectors were installed. These devices react to the opening of doors and windows, notifying unauthorized attempts to enter the premises.

For complete floor access control, six MotionProtect Jeweller detectors protect lobbies, stairwells and elevators. These indoor wireless motion detectors, equipped with PIR sensors, monitor an area within a radius of 12 meters and effectively distinguish human movement.
Two MotionProtect Outdoor Jeweller detectors were installed to secure the outdoor area of the 2nd floor, covering the stairs. These wireless devices feature an advanced anti-masking system to identify attempts to block your view, either by painting on the lens, covering it, or placing an obstacle in front of it. The detectors use two PIR sensors and the SmartDetect algorithm to accurately differentiate between human movement and environmental interference.
Five HomeSiren Jeweller devices were installed throughout the mall. These sirens have a sound output of up to 100 dB and an integrated LED indicator. The devices serve two functions: to quickly notify security personnel of potential intrusions and to act as a visual and auditory deterrent. In addition, a single StreetSiren Jeweller was installed in the main car park, which issues an even more powerful 113 dB alert to both staff and nearby people in the event of an intrusion.
To protect the perimeter, infrared barriers were deployed around the facility's fence and access points. They were integrated into the Ajax system using twelve Transmitter Jeweller modules. If an attempt is made to cross the boundary, the barriers detect a circuit interruption and the transmitter immediately triggers an alarm.

Using an Ajax app, security personnel can quickly identify which sector the intrusion has occurred in and inspect the area without delay. Upon alarm transmission, the Jeweller Transmitter triggers a scenario that instructs the Jeweller Relay to restart power to the electric fence, ensuring that the perimeter remains continuously protected.

Underlining the importance of quick and easy control of the security system, three KeyPad Jeweller devices and three Ajax SpaceControl Jeweller controllers were implemented. These devices offer practical options for managing security modes, ensuring that security personnel can interact with the system effortlessly. The keypads were placed at critical points, such as security posts, entrances and offices, to allow immediate management of the system. In addition, this allowed for various types of access with role-based permissions.
Complementing the keypads, the compact remote control allowed remote management of the security modes and made it easy to quickly activate the panic alarm if necessary.
Fire protection in the restoration area was addressed using a multi-level detection approach: fourteen FireProtect 2 (Heat/Smoke) Jeweller detectors and two FireProtect 2 (Heat/Smoke/CO) Jeweller detectors were deployed. These devices detect smoke, rapid temperature rises, and dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. To improve reaction in the event of an emergency, four ManualCallPoint Jeweller buttons were installed, allowing personnel to manually activate the fire alarm. When activated, the system instantly transmits an alarm signal to the Rosario Monitoring Center (CMR) and activates the fire detectors' built-in buzzers.

Three security guards use the Ajax Security System app to effectively manage the system. The app's intuitive interface provides real-time device status, security mode control, event tracking, and access management, all directly from smartphones. Thanks to the addressability of the devices, guards can instantly identify which specific detector has triggered an alarm, allowing for a faster reaction without unnecessary delays. In addition, the mall can be divided into separate security groups, allowing guards to manage the security modes of each zone independently.
Rapid deployment
Ajax wireless devices are designed for quick installation and effortless setup, allowing the system to be operational in record time. The fire protection system was fully deployed in a single day, while the anti-intrusion solution was installed up to 8 times faster than conventional systems.
Traditional wired systems for large facilities, such as shopping malls, are often expensive and time-consuming to install. In contrast, Ajax's wireless solution allowed for quick installation without the need to run cables, alter interior design, or require major renovations. In addition, Ajax ensures stable connectivity in large installations, overcoming radio interference caused by walls, metal structures, and ceilings that often pose problems to other systems.
Increased reaction efficiency
The device's addressability allows guards to instantly identify the specific detector that has triggered an alarm, allowing for faster and more accurate reactions.
