Bosch Security Systems offers connected security solutions for the Shanghai tower, which is the second largest building in the world.

Casting a 632-meter shadow that crosses Shanghai's cityscape, Shanghai Tower is China's tallest point of interest and the second tallest building in the world, after Dubai Burj Khalifa.

Located in lujiazui's financial district, the structure was completed late last year after a six-year construction project. Consisting of 127 mixed-use floors and 5 underground floors and called "vertical city", the Shanghai Tower will have housing, offices, entertainment, retail and cultural venues as well as luxury hotels.

The building also houses the tallest observation tower in the world, providing stunning views of the city. With a large capacity to accommodate up to 16,000 people per day, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. With this in mind, the building was equipped with Bosch's full range of surveillance, public address system, professional sound and intrusion solutions.

Intelligent surveillance at all hours
A very particular feature of the tower's security solutions is a network of 2,100 high-resolution fixed Bosch Dinion and FlexiDome cameras, as well as AutoDome cameras with movement throughout the building, covering a wide range of operational needs. Thanks to Bosch's Starlight technology, these cameras ensure high-resolution 24/7 video regardless of lighting conditions or movement of objects.

AutoDome IP cameras also feature Intelligent Tracking that allows tower security personnel to automatically track moving objects throughout the building, based on predefined alarm rules or with just one click. The camera settings are continuous and dynamic depending on the movement as they can vary depending on the intensity of the light, fluctuations of the rear light or backlight and front light thanks to the Intelligent Auto Exposure function and the Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction. This feature is especially important to help maintain the tower's Corporate Social Responsibility.

In order to reduce the amount of energy needed to illuminate the tower, the transparent façade of the tower was built to allow a maximum amount of natural light in the structure, which is subject to many more variations of artificial lighting. The AUTODOME IP camera ensures perfect exposure of objects, regardless of light variation, but also keeps bit rate and storage requirements to a minimum. Thanks to their Intelligent Video Analysis they provide alerts when needed and allow security personnel to quickly retrieve the correct data when needed.

150 VIDEOJET 7000 decoders controlled by Bosch Video Management System integrate the solution and allow security personnel to continuously monitor live and allow the recording to be played back even in the event of an interruption or failure. Finally, the Bosch 2PB DSA-E series storage system was chosen for long-term video recording to ensure retention and reliability.

Uninterrupted and reliable intrusion detection messages
For safe and rapid evacuation in case of an emergency, the tower is equipped with a public address and the Bosch Praesideo digital voice evacuation system. With more than 100 amplifiers and 6,000 speakers strategically distributed throughout the building, security personnel can distribute highly intelligible evacuation instructions aimed at different areas of the tower.

Audio and control signals from six control rooms are connected via a local area network within the tower, forming a redundant circuit. This means that even in the event of a failure in any of the tower's control rooms, evacuation messages can continue to spread throughout the building and ensure the orderly evacuation of visitors and staff.

The Tower Surveillance System is also made up of Bosch Blue Line Gen2 intrusion detectors and 12 sets of Bosch DS7400Xi intrusion control panels. These detectors interact with the surveillance systems in the tower, monitor accesses and transmit the signal to the BVMS (Bosch Video Management System) within the control room, which means that security personnel will be alerted in case of an intrusion allowing to monitor the subject visually from the control room.

An enhanced audio experience
The Shanghai Tower also features a multi-function conference center, as well as a multifunction banquet hall on the tower's podium. For better audio performance for conference center events, products from Electro-Voice, a brand of the Bosch group, were also chosen.

This includes 100 EVID speakers strategically located throughout the center to provide an optimal audio experience for conference and event participants. In addition, speakers, TOUR EVF (TG) and Contractor Series Accuracy (CPS) amplifiers, RE Series microphones were also selected to provide a high-quality sound experience for shanghai Tower.
