The city of Manta, in Ecuador, thanks to the help of the integrating company Anpriseg and that of the manufacturer Axis, unified its monitoring center and now breathes an air of security thanks to the implementation and development of this project.

Starting from the premise that in the city of Manta, Ecuador, there was a need to unify the Monitoring Center in order for it to be controlled by the National Police and personnel of the Municipality of Manta from one place.
Prior to the start of the project, there were two monitoring centers installed by the Municipality some years ago and that had about 40 analog PTZ cameras distributed in the central sector of the city for which the Ministry of the Interior, through its Minister, was in need of helping the City by carrying out the study and implementation of a single monitoring center controlled 24 hours a day.
The project also contemplated the expansion of the security network to 38 more IP cameras of the Axis brand, which were installed in strategic places such as red areas, roundabouts, main avenues, in the main beaches and entrances to the city.
They were linked to the Control Center, by means of Optical Fiber that was installed throughout the city.
According to Carlos Andrés Urresta, of the integration company Anpriseg, "Axis cameras were installed for their quality of equipment and placed on 16-meter poles with their respective accessories."
In the same way, Urresra said that "Manta is a city that is growing and needs reliable and robust security for its development."
Technical description
As background, it should be noted that previously the Analog PTZ cameras were installed locally at a maximum distance of two (2) kilometers from their control room, by fiber directly to a computer that allowed in one case to have only nine (9) cameras and in the other monitoring room 32 more cameras.
This represented a greater administrative expense, space and other inputs, so it was necessary to change technology to IP by unifying the centers through optical fiber linked to Encoder brand AXIS and leading to the Monitoring Center that is at a distance of more than 10 kilometers.
Carlos Andrés Urresta, when asked about the technical characteristics of the security system, operation and differences of the system compared to the models offered by other companies said that one of the advantages for which we decided to install products of the Axis brand was for the HD (High Definition) feature of the cameras compared to others that still do not have it and for its versatility to install.
Moving on to the monitoring process that is carried out with this equipment and the other advantages that can be perceived, in addition to surveillance offered to the client, our guest stressed that "Axis cameras are distributed in three (3) servers and stored in a Data Storage, thus a data center was created that sends the image to a video wall with Pelco HD Monitors of 42"and five (5) workstations for operators who work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in order to exert control of the city."
On what objectives or purposes this security system has and if integration with other subsystems is contemplated, the representative of Anpriseg explained that the purpose of installing the "eyes of the Eagle" in Manta has been to maintain a safe city controlled and that its tourism increases through the security of its citizens and visitors. "
On the other hand, he emphasizes that "In the future it is planned to increase the bandwidth to have the feasibility of controlling the cameras from the nearest Aid Stations," he emphasizes.
As for whether there were technical or logistical difficulties when implementing the system, Carlos Andrés Urresta stresses that at the time of installing the optical fiber in sectors of high crime rate there were threats to the technicians, which did not happen to majors." Said.
It is also important to note that for the implementation of this system it was possible to use resources of previous technology since they integrated analog cameras to the monitoring center and modernized them by installing the Encoder Axis.
Results
Under the question of How could you describe the operation of these equipment? Our guest praised the excellent results obtained and stressed that "the equipment works perfectly as long as they are accompanied by a good server. In addition, the installed fiber is certified and the correct attenuations".
Regarding the satisfaction of the end user in front of this technology Carlos Andrés Urresta said that "our client, the Ministry of the Interior and National Police (Manta), can confirm the great help of having created 'Ojos de Águila Manta' where they maintain control of the city achieving effective and positive results against crime".
As an anecdotal fact, the representative of Anpriseg relates that the first day that the system was installed, through an Axis camera in a neighborhood of the City called Siete Puñaladas it was possible to visualize the sale of narcotics. The Manta National Police was monitoring and at the same time carrying out the operation achieving the capture of three (3) individuals and showing where the drugs were hidden."
In conclusion, Urresta indicates that the best way to combat crime is to create detection and the response is more effective knowing where the fact arises, for which quality equipment is needed and with sufficient technological robustness.
