Mexico. Otay-Tijuana Venture LLC, a group of U.S.-Mexican companies operating CBX, the Tijuana Cross Border Xpress International Airport, has chosen RealNetworks' video analytics technology, SAFR® to be used throughout the San Diego - Tijuana terminal in order to optimize passenger flow efficiency and overall operational processes.
The first building connecting the United States to a foreign airport terminal, CBX serves millions of passengers crossing the border as part of their journey, helping them avoid unforeseen delays at the congested San Ysidro and Otay border crossings.
"We are very satisfied with the performance, the specific reporting functionalities and the support that the SAFR team offers, providing the necessary knowledge that is required to carry out an operation as important as CBX," said Julio Armentariz, CTO of CBX.
The 390-foot-long bridge is a hub for many everyday situations where technology, process, and people work together to create a safe and efficient passenger experience. Artificial intelligence-based video analytics technology ensures that CBX staff have actionable data at their fingertips as they monitor passenger flows and make real-time decisions.
"We are very proud to assist CBX in its day-to-day operations by contributing to greater efficiency and travel quality for the thousands of passengers who frequent the terminal every day," said José Larrucea, Senior Vice President of International Sales at RealNetworks.
SAFR offers highly accurate, fast, low-bias facial recognition and additional face- and person-based computer vision features. SAFR's NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) scores for speed, accuracy, and bias combine to distinguish SAFR as a leader in real-world accuracy and performance.
• Optimized for live video: Face detection and recognition of a subject moving through a video frame in less than 100 ms with 99.87% accuracy
• Low bias: The lowest accuracy difference between groups of different skin tones of any non-Chinese algorithm tested by NIST in its January 2020 report. This is a direct result of various training data used to develop the SAFR algorithm and intentional focused efforts to eliminate bias.
• Deployment flexibility: In addition to fixed live video sources, SAFR SDKs support edge deployments on standalone devices with limited resources such as UGVs or iOT devices.
• Global trust: Tens of millions of recognitions per month worldwide with active customers both on-premises and with hybrid cloud deployments.
SAFR has added additional features specifically designed to help customers respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic, including mask detection and occupancy counting. CBX has applied the mask detection feature to passenger flow monitoring to better track mask compliance and collect critical operations data.
"We see optimal potential in RealNetworks' technology and are looking to expand its use in other areas within CBX in order to further increase the efficiency of operations," added Armentariz.
