Latin America. The latest update to the Milestone XProtect 2019 R1 video management software introduces two-way audio into the mobile client, allowing users to talk to people in the camera areas directly from their mobile devices.
The first version of the 2019 Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS) extends the functionality of the Smart Client and takes it out of the control room, enabling both one-way and two-way audio on the mobile client. This novelty benefits the security personnel who move and whose tasks sometimes require them to be away from the Smart Client of the workplace.
The one-way audio feature allows users to listen to the audio captured by the microphone that is connected to the camera, directly from their mobile phones using the Milestone Mobile app. Users can also increase their recognition of the environment when video is unavailable, for example, in situations of extreme darkness or when an incident occurs outside the camera's range of vision.
Two-way audio takes push-to-talk (PTT) audio functionality a step further, a feature that allows users to talk, directly from their mobile phones, through the speaker connected to the camera. This allows security personnel to use their video management systems (VMS) preemptively for tasks such as access control, crowd warnings, and intrusion alerts, all from their mobile devices.
Act faster from anywhere with two-way audio in the web client
The 2019 R1 version of XProtect also includes support for two-way audio in the web client. Two-way audio allows users, wherever they are, to speak through the speaker connected to the camera directly from the web client. This transforms the VMS system into an interactive tool and helps users respond promptly to access control and incident prevention requests, without needing to be physically present in the control room or on premises.
Encryption with certificates
XProtect 2019 R1 enables the system to more effectively address computer security threats by encrypting all communication between the recording server and other servers and clients connected to it. Certificate-based encryption requires that all components that communicate with the recording server, including third-party solutions integrated with the VMS system, follow a strict certification process, ensuring adequate protection of the system against computer security threats. This system design offers users the best performance, end-to-end encryption.
