International. Tyco Retail Solutions announced that it has surpassed 63 billion consumer products labeled at source to date, helping retailers increase protection of what's in store.
The Sensormatic merchandise origin labelling program has marked a milestone in the retail industry and has achieved consecutive seven-year growth since 2011. Tyco's program is the largest in the industry and helps major retailers around the world protect the most popular apparel and consumer goods. In addition, source labeling can help reduce losses by standardizing protection at the product level, while safeguarding virtually all product categories.
The company's program includes the application at source of single-use labels and reusable hard labels for Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS). Today, product manufacturers or packaging companies are responsible for applying most Sensormatic labels at the site of origin rather than in stores. Sensormatic origin labeling helps retailers increase sales, because goods arrive "ready for sale" and can be immediately placed in the display area. The program also allows sellers to focus on customers, rather than manually applying security labels in-store.
Thanks to Tyco Retail Solutions' international presence and Sensormatic's data-driven Source Tagging as a Service (STaaS) program, retailers achieve comprehensive, cost-effective merchandise protection with immediate results through a collaboration managed by Tyco. Some of the achievements of Sensormatic origin labeling that make the difference are the following:
STaaS, a fast-growing program just 2 years old, that allows retailers to focus on labeling the right products and helps suppliers achieve maximum impact by increasing sales, reducing losses and saving on labor.
More than 63 billion consumer products are labeled globally, helping retailers and manufacturers of consumer packaged goods reduce losses and achieve a uniform labeling system.
Protection of more than 40 million meat products last year, with a built-in microwave-safe label, which helps safeguard this category with a high rate of theft.
The application at source of more than 10,000 million hard and visible labels, placed on clothing items with a high rate of theft, allowing retailers to save millions of hours of work on the labeling of goods.
The recirculation of 5 billion Internet of Things (IoT)-capable smart hard labels, offering secure product-level visibility for better inventory management.
The application of more than 400 million sewn labels per year, to achieve more discreet labeling on high-end apparel and textile products.
"We are proud to partner with leading global retailers and manufacturers to together grow the Sensormatic origin labeling program," said Tony D'Onofrio, Director of Customer Service, Tyco Retail Solutions. "With more than 50 years as a pioneer of new technologies, Sensormatic is the brand retailers rely on for quality and innovation. Our hard recirculation tags with Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID) are gaining momentum among retailers because they are an eco-friendly and cost-effective approach to implementing large-scale RFID programs in apparel."
