New level of automation for network video monitoring

International. No matter how many cameras companies use in their systems, monitoring all equipment effectively presents a serious challenge. Even observing a screen for long periods turns out to be an impossible task: after just 20 minutes, an operator can lose up to 90% of the activity in a scene.

Axis Communications makes it easier for operators to stay focused by introducing a new level of automation for network video monitoring. Live processing identifies alert conditions, giving security teams the information needed to react quickly and resolve incidents.

The reinvention of IP video
Axis' innovative technologies support security personnel with comprehensive and efficient incident and alarm detection systems. These intelligent digital image processing systems greatly improve security, keeping surveillance active no matter the scenario. By working independently on each camera, Axis technologies work without a central analytics server. A wide variety of advanced detection features can be selected, from inactive objects to trajectory tracking. Live images are instantly analyzed and the resulting data stream accompanies the video feed. Events are displayed immediately, while data can also be stored for later review. As a comprehensive system solution, it captures full details of recorded scenes, offering users the ability to find any event, even those that were not originally set up as alerts.

Peer-to-peer intelligence
Taking a unique approach to video content analysis, Axis places the power of image processing within each camera or video encoder. Able to automatically recognize key events in a scene and alert the operator, offering point-to-point intelligence. AXIS Camera Station helps security teams react quickly to suspicious activity or potential threats. Each surveillance camera in a system becomes an active member of security groups, automatically. Also, whether a current system uses analog cameras or IP cameras, adding Axis equipment is simple and cost-effective.

Intelligent video analytics, uninterrupted surveillance
Accurate and efficient, Axis' intelligent software performs multi-level analysis of images by pixels, textures and moving content inside the cameras. AXIS Video Motion Detection tracks the trajectory (speed and direction) of all objects and people. In addition, it uses advanced algorithms to offer the most reliable solution for surveillance monitoring. Continuous development ensures the uninterrupted application of new techniques, improving the "intelligence" and current functionality through software updates. While offering a high degree of sophistication, AXIS Motion Detection is very easy to deploy, configure and control. The adjustment of sensitive areas, detection fields, object shapes and movements, allows you to configure the system in the way that users want, quickly and accurately.

Traditional solutions use a central server to analyze video content. This involves hardware and maintenance costs, as well as putting the system at risk of computer viruses and requires complete data streams from each connected camera. The biggest problem is that relying on a single server creates a weak system, that is,  if the server fails, the analytics will do the same for each camera. AXIS Video Motion Detection operates independently on each camera. Even if one of them or an encoder fails, the rest of the system remains fully functional.

A more robust and powerful system
AXIS Video Motion Detection captures data about everything that happens within the active areas of each monitored scene. Content analysis information, in the form of metadata, is generated and stored with the video images. The data contains details about all objects entering, and leaving, the monitored areas. And the analysis does not stop with live scenes, it can also provide event recognition during the playback of the recorded video. Recorded material  , made up of simple text strings describing specific image details, are much smaller and easier to search for than recorded video images. In addition, customers looking for a way to increase the power of their surveillance system will find a good ally in AXIS Cross Line Detection, an application that detects objects crossing a virtual line, allowing it to detect intrusions automatically and trigger alarms.

Accurate forensic search
What happens if in a monitored area a system is not configured to detect movement? Axis forensic search offers a unique solution: it simply requires the definition of new detection criteria for systems. With intelligent video analytics forensic search, users can search for different events compared to those detected during live viewing. For example, the system can be reconfigured to detect a 'deleted object' when searching for an archived video, even if the system was not originally configured to detect this event.

The objective of video analytics and alarms is to make video surveillance systems more intelligent, accurate and intuitive, both for users and for the systems themselves. However, video analytics and alarms are not only useful for surveillance issues, but also create value for other parts of businesses.

Axis Communications offers its customers its own integrated analytics as well as a wide range of partner-developed video analytics applications, allowing you to take full advantage of the powerful distributed video analytics options and open application platform present in all your cameras. That gives all users the flexibility to choose when and how they want to use these technologies. And, in addition, it allows them to choose from the largest selection of applications on the market.

The initial installation of a video surveillance system always requires an investment, yet businesses can recover that money. That is, reducing theft will mean taking a small hit to inventory expenses. Improving productivity will bring with it an increase in work. Offering good customer experiences will result in customers more willing to invest their money in products or services. In general, surveillance systems simply ensure great results for all companies.
