Argentina. The sale of video surveillance devices grew by 20% so far this year. Professionals, companies, businesses and homestays join the control by monitoring, a phenomenon that has its counterpart in public policies to combat crime.
The increase in video surveillance in public spaces has its complement in the private sphere. In the companies of Rosario dedicated to providing security services, they indicate that sales of the devices increased by 20% so far this year, compared to the same period in 2011, according to a survey by local authorities.
Businessman Miguel Milano said that video surveillance cameras are sold, for the most part, to companies, professionals, supermarkets, small and medium-sized merchants and family homes.
He added that many people who acquired the devices several years ago are revamping the devices to update the technology.
"People want to have more peace of mind, more control, more deterrence," Milano said. When listing benefits, he said that video surveillance is "cheaper than having one person all the time."
