Mexico. The state penitentiary system reinforced its surveillance with the installation of more video cameras inside the prisons, said the general director of Prevention and Social Readaptation, Remigio Ortiz Olivares, after a work and verification tour.
He explained that the social rehabilitation centers (Ceresos) have a monitoring program that connects to the closed circuit. He also said that the number of video cameras was increased and, therefore, monitoring is reinforced to control and supervise any situation, especially to increase the ability to react to any eventuality.
After a visit to the Tuxpan prison, Ortiz Olivares stressed that the 17 penitentiary centers have a closed circuit of surveillance; however, and in order to guarantee security in them, more surveillance cameras are installed with a team that meets all the specifications set by the National Public Security System to have a constant monitoring of the daily activities carried out by the inmates in order to maintain tranquility in the social rehabilitation centers.
The state official reported that most of the prisons already have this system of surveillance cameras for monitoring that is installed at strategic points, and work is being done so that in the Ceresos that do not yet have this type of equipment, the installation is carried out and they begin to operate as soon as possible.
