United States. General Electric's surveillance unit that makes cameras and alarms could be sold for about $2 billion, bloomberg reports. However, the company's directives have not confirmed the news.
According to the portal, GE would have hired JP Morgan to make the sale of its video surveillance division, indicating that its possible buyers would be United Technologies or Tyco International, companies that have not commented on the matter.
In April, Safran bought 81% of GE's national protection business, at the time GE Security CEO Dean Seavers said this deal would allow the company's security unit to focus on the core of the business: intrusion, video and transmission, access, controllers, fire and communications, which would allow them to be more focused on their distributor channel and drive the solutions that will make this channel more satisfying. International . The Pushdo botnet, first identified in 2007, is the second largest in the world, according to a recent report by Trend Micro.
Pushdo is responsible for one in every 25 spam emails that are sent, but this number must be much higher in Russia, where the most spam from the botnet occurs. Pushdo is updated through various executable programs and spam.
This botnet, also known as Pandex or Cutwail, acts as the main driver for criminal gangs to distribute malicious code, which allows them to gain control of several computers to be used by hackers.

Latin America. According to the report, Panorama of the international insertion of Latin America and the Caribbean 2008-2009: Crisis and spaces of regional cooperation, presented by ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America), exports and imports of the countries of the region will experience a fall of 13% in 2009, higher than the 10% forecast for world trade.
The commission states that the volume of the region's exports will fall by 11%, becoming the worst result since 1937. Imports will decrease by 14%, something that did not happen 27 years ago (since 1982).
The report explains that the trade collapse was due to the decline in international demand, the fall in the price of some basic raw materials, the difficulties for trade financing and the procyclical behavior of intraregional trade flows, especially in South America.
Despite the sharp trade contraction, the report highlights that the region has withstood the effects of the current crisis better than in the past, thanks in particular to the macroeconomic strengths left by the favourable economic cycle of 2003-2007.
ECLAC estimates that in two or three years international trade will once again be a source of opportunities, so the region must prepare.
The report proposes the creation of a cooperation programme to stimulate intraregional trade, coordinating the participation of countries and multilateral and regional organizations in such a way as to strengthen the mobilization of financial resources.
It also highlights the importance of diversifying the productive and export base, incorporating greater value and knowledge in exported goods and services, which requires greater coordination within the government and with the private sector to stimulate innovation and the training of human resources. Latin America. According to the study conducted by the Getulio Vargas Foundation, which included 149 specialists from 19 countries, latin America's economic climate rose in July to 4 points, after having been at 3.6 in April.
Likewise, the Current Situation Index (ISA) went from 2.5 to 2.6 points between April and July and the Expectations Index (IE), which projects a scenario for the next six months, increased from 4.6 to 5.4 points.
According to the AméricaEconomía.com article, although the region's climate is still low, it has improved since January 2009 and expectations for the future are favorable.
The research institution establishes that although the ISA is low, when combined with the IE, which is on the rise, it shows that the Latin American economy emerged from the recessionary phase and will enter an economic recovery zone.
Peru was the country that registered the best regional index, 7 points in July, followed by Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. In these countries, except Mexico and Peru, the ISA increased between April and July. Brazil, Chile and Colombia also recorded growth in the expectations index, representing the beginning of the economic rebound.
Some nations such as Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Venezuela will not yet emerge from recession, however in Uruguay expectations indicate a trend of improvement, because although the IE is below 5, it increased from 1 to 4.6 points.
"Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela are countries with current situation indices and expectations below 5, so both indicators are considered unfavorable. However, the value of the indices suggests that Uruguay, for example, is in a better situation than Venezuela," explained the getulio Vargas Foundation academic. Source: AméricaEconomía.com
