International. At least 3.4 billion fake emails are sent around the world every day, and most industries remain vulnerable to phishing and phishing cyberattacks simply because they're not implementing industry-standard authentication protocols, according to Valimail's Spring 2019 email fraud landscape.
However, it's not all bad news. Ongoing research also indicates that many industries are making progress in the fight against phishing, some more quickly than others.
Important findings during the first quarter of 2019 include:
1.2 percent of all email is suspicious and probably fake.
Nearly 80 percent of all inboxes worldwide (5.34 billion in total) do DMARC checks on incoming email.
Nearly 740,000 domains now use DMARC. But success rates with DMARC remain close to 20 percent in most categories.
Vendors offering DMARC solutions have success rates that vary widely, and the time required to reach the application also varies widely.
