Latin America. NFPA announced the launch of its most recent certification, and the first in Spanish: the Certification of Specialists in Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Sprinkler Systems (CEIPMSR).
When water-based fire protection systems work properly, they significantly reduce the likelihood of loss of life and injury in the event of a fire. As such, it is critical that the persons responsible for inspecting, testing and maintaining the conditions of these sprinklers have a working knowledge of the materials covered in NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems.
The Certification of Specialists in Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Sprinkler Systems (CEIPMSR) was created to provide a consistent and impartial process to validate professional competence in inspection, testing and maintenance of sprinkler systems. This certification is an opportunity to demonstrate the ability to manage facility compliance to eliminate hazards, maximize system integrity, and ensure rapid and efficient response to a fire emergency.
This program was developed with the help of a Certification Advisory Group (GCC) (GCC) composed of industry experts representing a wide range of countries (6 different countries in Latin America), years of experience, and areas of expertise. The GCC worked over several months to complete an analysis of the weighted criteria of the exam, the evaluation of hundreds of questions for the exam, and finally, to conduct a study to determine the passing grade for the exam.
This new certification has generated interest in advance in industry professionals. It will help meet an identified need and enable authorities, employers, and clients to recognize professionals with the required knowledge of the challenges associated with an appropriate IPM program, and who are able to keep facilities in compliance with NFPA 25.
