3 points to understand the IT Industry in Mexico

Mexico. Comstor, a SYNNEX Corporation company that operates in North and Latin America and focuses on security, collaboration, networking and data center, details 3 points to understand the IT Industry in Mexico.

The Mexican technology market is a great hotbed of talent, has large IT companies in its territory, has government policies in favor of digital development, a domestic market with great potential, strategic territorial location, among other benefits that make the country an environment conducive to technological advancement.

Learn about the main points of this industry to understand how Mexico has become a world reference in the sector:

1. Political commitment
During 2013, the Mexican government implemented an EDN (National Digital Strategy) action plan, whose main goal is to make a digital revolution in the country, through sectoral objectives such as innovation of society with the participation of citizens, universal and effective health, educational transformation, government transformation and digital economy.

For each of these fronts of action, specific tasks were proposed that correspond to the government, companies and the population in general, in search of technological efficiency to achieve development goals in the country.

The plan includes the incentive to connectivity, digital inclusion (with more than 430 thousand Mexican users already connected since the beginning of the plan), interoperability, a legal framework to define principles, guarantees, rights and duties on the use of the Internet, beyond the opening of data for access to government information by the entire population, so that there is transparency, innovation and citizen participation.

The EDN improves the Mexican digital chain and encourages companies in the sector, startups and technology industries that want to settle and operate in the country. In addition, experiencing the efforts of the public initiative, professionals in training may be interested in specializing in the sector, seeking technical courses and certifications to act as IT.

2. Investment Attraction
In Mexico, there are government entities that promote trade and foreign investment. This is the case, for example, of Pro Mexico, which this year celebrates 10 years of existence, highlighting among its results, the attraction of 1,126 foreign direct investment projects, which represents about $ 109 million dollars and the generation of 411 thousand jobs.

Organizations like this, which help entrepreneurs sell their products and services in markets outside their borders, in addition to training entrepreneurs, also encourages the growth of the markets included, expanding the possibilities of exit of their sales.

In the technology sector there is the AMITI (Mexican Association of the IT Industry), a private organization created to develop digital businesses. Another source for attracting investment is the benefit of free trade agreements, with more than 45 countries, in addition to all the knowledge acquired over the last 27 years with the presence of foreign companies from all continents in the country. Knowing the culture of other places, communication is facilitated and it is possible to anticipate the needs of other markets.

3. Internal market with potential
According to the World Economic Forum, in the research The Global Information Technology Report 2016, in which it evaluates the innovation of countries in the digital economy, among the 139 participating countries, Mexico is in the 76th position.

In 10 pillars evaluated, Mexico appears above the average, among the most profitable countries in two areas: accessibility and government use. Therefore, other areas need to be improved, having many potential actions in the market, such as improvement in infrastructure and individual use of technology by the population.

In addition, according to the Canieti (Chamber of the Electronic Industry, Telecommunications and Information Technologies), the IT sector has an annual growth of 7%, being three times greater than the country's own GDP. For the year 2018, $13 billion dollars of investment in the sector is planned after the Telecommunications Reform is announced.

Mexico is a country that strives to achieve technological objectives, that will collaborate with the internal development of the country and that opens its doors to foreign investments, being a competitive place to produce technology among the many options around the world.
