Colombia. Sectors such as Villa Santana, downtown Pereira, and Cuba will be prioritized with the installation of security cameras. On December 31, all the cameras will be available. Through the award to the temporary union Citizen Security, the installation of the more than 290 security cameras in Pereira will be carried out.
Of these, 93 cameras are full HD dome type, which rotate 360 degrees, eight cameras for recognition of plates and faces that will be installed on the outskirts of the city for the control of vehicles and motorcycles related to criminal acts, and 191 more fixed cameras for control and surveillance in different areas of the city.
In addition to the installation of these cameras, connectivity through 53,000 meters of fiber optics and the adaptation of the monitoring room located in the Police command are foreseen.
This project was prepared jointly with the Metropolitan Police of Pereira, taking into account the security statistics on the occurrence of crimes of greater impact and the accompaniment and advice of the Ministry of the Interior, with an investment of $ 6181 million, where the Ministry, through the Fund for Security and Coexistence, Fonsecon, contributed more than $4.5 billion (US$1.8 million) and the mayor's office of Pereira more than $1.6 billion (US$630 thousand).
"We will have the way to give the Prosecutor's Office and the security agencies forceful tools to identify criminals and these cameras will surely generate a perception of security and the rates of theft, homicide and crime in general will be positively impacted in their reduction for the benefit of all Pereiranos," said Mayor Enrique Vásquez.
The temporary union is made up of Itelca, SAS, Isec S.A, and Fire & Segurity SAS, with the supervision of the CCTV 123 consortium formed by Silva Carreño SAS and Smarty SAS.
