Alas News is the official media of the Latin American Security Association, the main channel of communication with our partners and contacts throughout the industry. With more than 2,000 monthly visits, Alas News is consolidated as a means of communication that supports and projects the content strategies of its partners.
Our newsletter has undergone an interesting transformation over the last year and we currently offer a wide variety of sections that seek to actively engage different audiences of the Association. These initiatives are part of the informative and topical work carried out by our newsletter.
This is how for our partners we have some sections and we have created one especially for our instructors we premiered during this edition a space for external collaborations. Business by Business is the new section where our partners can read articles originated in collaborations of people or companies outside the Association but that seek to generate new opportunities to grow the commercial and marketing activity of our associates.
In the case of spaces that are aimed especially at our partners, I want to briefly explain which are the sections in which they can achieve more visibility.
Business profile: this section highlights the trajectory of our partners. It is a recognition that is made in Alas News to highlight his career and achievements. Aimed at companies that have been in the security industry for ten years and older. It is done through an article / interview, which is published in ALAS News and social networks.
Entrepreneurs: Recognition of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs in the security industry. Aimed at partners who have been in the market for between three and five years. It is done through an article / interview, which is published in ALAS News and social networks.
For our instructors, we have created the Instructor's Note section, with which we seek that our group of more than 30 instructors has a space to share their knowledge with the sector. This section is specially designed so that all that trajectory in the training and teaching that our instructors have, is also shared in other spaces different from the classroom. We especially invite our instructors to enrich this wings news section.
Finally, as part of our mission to promote the growth of the industry and the businesses of the sector, we offer starting this year the new lead system, thanks to which the articles of our partners can receive contacts interested in their company, news and products. We would like to have your opinion on ALAS News and how we can strengthen our work as the main communication channel of the Association.
INSTRUCTOR MESSAGE

Scope of intrusion systems
In the intrusion alarm industry there are several manufacturers that have products within reach of the needs of the market, both in detectors and communications equipment, which have high quality certifications.
There are many needs of the residential, commercial and industrial market that have not yet been explored, either because they do not know the benefits of these systems or because they are not using them in depth. It is more of a matter of ignorance on the part of alarm monitoring centers, integrators and installers.
At present, technologies for the detection of intruders are being explored and it is preferred to use wired means to locate detectors in the protection of a property.
There are very few cases in which they use wireless or addressable systems. Perhaps because there is a fear of dabbling in new products that are based on these technologies.
In the case of wireless systems, one of the advantages is the saving of materials and installation times, it also improves the aesthetics in the property and the maintenance that must be carried out is less.
A fear that exists against this technology is the signal emitted by any detector to the intrusion panel, but manufacturers have been working for some time to improve this aspect; have provided installers with tools to guarantee the functionality and security of this technology.
In the case of addressable systems, it is a solution that can be worked in markets where it is necessary to cover a greater number of security zones, with the advantage that one or many detectors can be placed by a single cable, it also allows shunts to reach large distances between the detector and the intrusion panel.
Another advantage is the energy consumption of these devices, which is low (around microamperes) compared to the others, which in terms of energy savings, contributes to the choice of this system.
But it is useless to have a good intrusion system, if we do not have adequate communication. Most alarm panels transmit events to the Exchanges via the Telephone Line.
With the advance of telecommunications, today there are communicators who use the cellular telephone network and the services of Internet providers (ISPs) for the transmission of these events.
With the growth and penetration of the internet, which has been taking place in each of our countries, it allows alternatives to be available so that both centrals, integrators and installers take advantage of this infrastructure so that they improve their operations and can offer a better service to the user.
The end user also plays a very important role, since it has the development that has been taking place in mobile devices (smartphones, phablets, tablets). The software of mobile applications is very friendly for intrusion systems can be easily managed, which causes it to stop being a totally isolated system, to become an interactive system that manages day by day.
That is why both centrals, integrators and installers must become more involved in these technologies, develop them efficiently to achieve greater participation in existing markets and enter those that have never been.
