Argentina. Unmanned aerial vehicles have surveillance cameras and GPS, allowing them to reach places inaccessible immediately for uniformed personnel, as well as meeting surveillance and tracking needs with high efficiency.
The small unmanned aircraft will be used during a first stage in citizen protection tasks: traffic and crowd control, inspections of public revenues and environmental protection.
The devices are of Dutch origin, cost about $17,500 each, and are already used in cities such as London and Brussels, as well as in high-control regions in Israel and the United States.
The first tests carried out by the authorities were satisfactory: they controlled the tennis matches between Del Potro and Federer, and provided a series of images of the attendance and the movements of the public of the best level. Using the remote control, the robots transmitted in real time images captured while flying, and were even taken to the limit of their operational capacity in time: 25 minutes.
"It is a very important tool for public security," announced the Secretary of Citizen Protection of the Municipality of Tigre, Diego Santillán. "They will be very useful not only to record criminal acts and provide evidence as evidence to the Justice, but for example in accidents such as fires or floods, arriving where trucks or vans cannot enter, flying over the area and sending images that can be very useful," he added.
