According to the National Survey on Crime Victims in the US, in 2009 15.6 million households experienced property crime, while the British Crime Survey found that in the 2009/10 period there were an estimated 659,000 incidents of theft on domestic property.
According to this and other studies, users are increasing year after year the consumption of security solutions for the protection of their residences. According to market analyst William Rhodes, "Consumer video surveillance equipment can be configured and installed without wiring or configuration complications. Now consumers can improve the security of their homes simply and at a comfortable price."
Rhodes also commented that at present many solutions can be managed more easily through a web browser or a smartphone, so they can remotely monitor all the movements that occur in their homes without spending more money.
