The evolution of traditional web applications towards those focused on the user (web 2.0), bring with them benefits, concepts and services that have become popular quickly around the world. Web 2.0 is a great expansion practically free of controls, since the vast majority are open source applications, therefore standards must be defined for security for it as it happens in England, where methods and rules of operation of certain systems related in the area of education and learning. This new universe forces us to make a new journey of conquest of technology now governed by users. Within Web 2.0 there are different specifications focused purely on Internet users, such as blogs, communities, online collaboration, version 2.0 search engines, and instant messaging (IM), among others.
In this last item, it entails certain disadvantages, since IM applications are available on various platforms, ranging from traditional desktop computers to smartphones and personal agendas, which can increase the risks of attacks by malware, worms, viruses, Trojans and bots, for organizations and users.
Against these disadvantages, users can protect themselves through acceptable messaging policies, their own configurations, use antivirus and antispyware products, among others.
