Latin America. Currently, the team at Zurich Airport, Brazil, uses the Security Center to manage 510 cameras and 210 access points at Floripa Airport. They are also using built-in analytics to automatically detect hazards such as objects left at the airport. As reported through Genetec "recently, they installed some AutoVu™ automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) cameras to streamline and secure access to the parking lot for employees."
This solution was given, then, by the challenge presented by the airport. In 2017, Zurich Airport Brasil signed a 30-year contract to oversee the management and operations of Floripa Airport, as well as Macaé and Vitória Airports. "The team knew they wanted to introduce a unique vision of leisure and innovation into Brazil's airport experience. To make that happen, they first wanted to upgrade and unify their security technology," says Genetec. This would serve as a foundation for better securing the airport, as well as collecting valuable data to improve the retail experience and other business operations over time.
It is worth noting that Florianópolis-Hercilio Luz International Airport (FLN), commonly known as Floripa Airport, is the main airport, located in the second largest city of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil. The airport handles around 3.5 million passengers a year and is operated by Zurich Airport Brasil, a Zurich Airport Group company. While the group ensures airport and passenger safety, it also focuses on providing a top-notch leisure and shopping experience. This ensures that passengers enjoy visiting and returning to Florianópolis Airport year after year.
According to Kleyton Mendes, executive manager of Zurich Airport, Brazil, "We opted for the unified Security Center platform to have all our systems connected in a single solution. Everything is much more actionable and automated, which has helped us become more efficient."
The solution
Video management, access and alarm monitoring to accreditation and reporting is performed within the Genetec Security Center™. It should be noted that the management is given through video analysis within Security Center, staff receive automatic notifications of potential risks, such as forgotten objects. This ensures that they remain proactive in dealing with any safety issues.
The team also works from the map interface, Plan Manager, to respond to alarms and expand camera views. This helps them quickly see what's going on and mitigate any issues.
With the unified security platform, the team now has better control over the management and issuance of employee and contractor credentials. They were also able to automate reporting to improve management and monitoring tasks and increase security in critical environments. According to Mendes, "The system is friendly, dynamic and has a very intuitive interface. It makes everything easy."
