Latin America. The challenge for the banking industry is to find tools to face new threats and protect people's assets. The rise of digitization and the massive deployment of virtual channels have led to this.
For that reason, the company Johnson Controls explained that it has redoubled its efforts in the development of key technologies for the sector among which are: access control, video surveillance and intrusion detection, all with an integrated approach to meet the needs of banks, especially the new challenges such as cyberattacks and the risks associated with the course of the pandemic.
The company revealed that it has led projects through security solutions for multiple banks in the world, and has connected in Latin America more than 12,000 cameras, 3,600 doors, 250,000 intrusion sensors and 15,000 locations, benefiting more than 60 financial institutions located in the region.
Access control for banking
One of the tools that Johnson Controls has implemented in the banking sector is Software House's access control solution as an event management system, enabling data connection, integration and interoperability of products and solutions.
Software House enables the guard or operator to view multiple security systems including video, intrusion, lighting and HVAC installations through a single interface.
Management of visitors and administrative staff through biometrics
Software House provides the ability to configure powerful access rules that can be combined with a variety of biometric devices.
Built-in visitor management features ensure that accurate registration is made, location is monitored, and rules are also established for people entering specific or sensitive areas, such as vaults.
Another of the necessary tools to strengthen security in financial institutions is the Tyco AI solution, which, when combined with Software House's CCURE 9000 and biometric solutions with facial recognition, enables integrated access control, without contact and the identification of people in the database, respectively.
Surveillance management for investigations and process improvements
Johnson Controls video management solutions provide the necessary tools to prevent employee fraud, ATM scams and/or money laundering.
The Illustra series, with its range of IP cameras, guarantees surveillance with peripheral storage. This line also has analytics capable of detecting and alerting staff about suspicious behavior of customers and visitors in areas such as reception or ATMs.
These analytics can also alert operators to very long lines and provide them with the tools needed to predict customer behaviors to help design receptions and distribute staff.
"We know that cameras are typically easily accessible and that some of those currently available on the market have backdoors and vulnerabilities that are used to hack into customer networks. For this reason, the cybersecurity of the cameras has become a key aspect for the development of our solutions and products," says Luis Enrique Bonilla, Business Development Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean at Johnson Controls.
Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning
Tyco AI provides analytics and deep learning to solve mainly two problems: firstly, reduction of time in forensic investigation, so that guards and other bank employees do not have to resort to the analysis of a large amount of collected data.
And, secondly, to provide applicable intelligence, that is, analysis of the information received through video surveillance.
Cloud Services
Exacq Cloud provides secure and scalable storage, while Cloudvue provides access control and video as a service, eliminating the need to use on-premises servers.
Access control and video-as-a-service enable the management of those systems remotely, which is important for customers. Faced with the risks posed by civil disobedience and terrorism against banks' physical facilities, the cloud provides a secure alternative for storage and applications.
The use of both centralized and edge artificial intelligence (IOT) means that all this data must be protected and safeguarded against possible unauthorized access by hackers. Reliability only makes sense in a safe environment.
