Latin America. Tyco/Johnson Controls announced the launch of the 2MP, 4MP and 8MP Illustra Pro Gen4 minidome cameras with peripheral AI.
The new minidome cameras are part of a growing portfolio of IP cameras that focus on delivering AI-powered object classification, customizable rules, and accurate notification of events at the network perimeter, while still offering the core advantages of ease of installation and enhanced cybersecurity.
"Edge AI is a critical component to implement in security ecosystems as our industry evolves from traditional centralized on-premise processing models to a more flexible, powerful and affordable cloud-based and distributed edge architecture. With the introduction of the Illustra Pro Gen4 cameras, we are focusing on the strategic importance of the solution for our customers, who require a high level of security without disrupting their business operations," said Gopal Paripally, Vice President of Engineering and Technology, Security Products Division, Johnson Controls.
The new line of cameras allows small and large businesses to have the ability to respond to incidents faster than ever before, as AI optimizes the speed and accuracy of forensic searches by incorporating object classification capabilities directly into security cameras. Thus, events can be grouped by classes, such as person, car, bus, motorcycle or bicycle. Settings can be adjusted in each camera with a variety of analytical rules that notify owners or company security personnel when the presence of people or objects is detected, for example, if someone crosses a perimeter or is loitering in a restricted area. This functionality automates manual surveillance processes and allows organizations to use video surveillance as an increasingly preventative tool that literally stops incidents before they happen.
With flush mounting, QR code, settings from the Illustra mobile app and app profiles that modify camera settings based on the selected profile, Illustra Pro Gen4 cameras are designed to maximize simplicity of use and installation. They feature several smart features, such as the wide intelligent dynamic range that automatically scans the video image and adjusts contrast and balance without maintenance or operator intervention, and the new fog effect removal feature that allows for accurate monitoring even in adverse weather conditions. Real Day/Night Mode and built-in IR lighting ensure that clear, crisp images of objects can be captured at a distance of up to 50 metres, regardless of lighting conditions. They also feature a variety of input/output (IO) options, such as micro HDMI, and a built-in microphone, adding greater flexibility and power to their operation.
In addition, the new models also offer end-to-end video encryption, from the camera to the VMS, and SD card encryption. Illustra Pro Gen4 cameras are designed so that they do not start if the software has been adulterated in any way. Additional protection controls include an optimized security mode that requires the use of complex, unpretracted passwords, as well as encrypted communications.
