R. Dominican. The electronic security market in the Dominican Republic is quite competitive and there is a company like IDcorp s.r.l., which for 28 years has been developing important projects and is now part of the purchasing group of ConsorcioTec.
This company, which began operations in 1992 and consolidated its formal operations by 1993, is the protagonist of this note along with its president, Eng. Raúl Flamini.
Eng. Flamini commented on the company that "its creation was the product of facing a challenge imposed in the Dominican Republic for the arrival of the Pope in 1992, for which it was necessary to design a security system that preserved its integrity and that was not based on incorporating a greater number of military personnel, since if you had wanted to do it some harm, it would come from human beings, so at that time, it had to be solved with the few existing technological developments of electronic security".
The success obtained in this challenge and others allowed it to consolidate its growth and diversify its services, from electronic identification systems to access controls, assistance, CCTV systems, fire detection and combat, perimeter protection, round controls and other solutions demanded by the market.
Security Sales: What has it meant to you to be at the forefront and lead IDCorp SRL?
Eng. Raúl Flamini: It is very gratifying to see that over the years the Dominican market has valued our vocation for service and the delivery of solutions that last over time, forming a large family of employees and companies that collaborate in the fulfillment of our responsibilities, local and international suppliers that support us and allow us to grow continuously.
VDS: What are the main challenges you have faced within the company?
Eng. Raúl Flamini: The main challenges we have faced over time has been the search for manufacturers that offer the right solutions for our market and give both the current support and the incorporation of new products in a market that evolves very quickly technologically. In the same way, to be able to keep our staff properly trained to evolve at the pace of these changes.
VDS: How do you see the ConsortioTec initiative and what expectations do you have?
Eng. Raúl Flamini: Being able to bring together integrators that serve small markets like ours and present them to manufacturers in a united way will allow them to be considered in a more relevant way and will be able to adapt their products and policies to our needs due to the new sales volumes that we represent them.
The difficulty of manufacturers to reach and know in depth these markets in general lead them to design their commercial policies that "these markets go to them to buy them and not that they, as manufacturers, come to these markets to sell them", this can be capitalized by Consortio Tec to dynamize both poles of the producer-integrator chain generating a win-win relationship in the medium term.
VDS: How do you see this year 2020 for the security industry with the current pandemic situation?
Eng. Raúl Flamini: This is a time to review our trade policies since the weakening of the productive sector generates greater insecurity that requires the implementation of greater control and protection measures, which is being opposed to the greater limitation of economic resources to allocate them to this sector.
I envision an important growth of the electronic security sector, but with a greater degree of selectivity. The client now takes a deeper look at their profit-cost ratio before placing their orders. Companies that structure a greater strengthening in technical support and the best customer service will see the growth of their companies.
