International. Johnson Controls recently acquired the remaining shares of Qolsys Inc., a manufacturer of smart homes and residential and commercial security, after taking over the majority of the company in 2014.
With this novelty, the company assured that Qolsys improves the global innovation platform by providing the new generation of security solutions and smart homes. Qolsys founders and their leadership team will remain in Silicon Valley (San Jose, CA) assuming key positions in Johnson Controls' global business of anti-intrusion solutions.
"Qolsys has grown from a small start-up to be a provider of security platforms with more than 4,000 distributors and service agents worldwide. Johnson Controls looks to the long-term opportunities to incorporate Silicon Valley innovation and culture into our broader cloud-supported IoT solutions for the building management, fire control and HVAC industries," said Jeff Williams, president of Global Products at Johnson Controls. "The opportunity to acquire Qolsys enables Johnson Controls to achieve operational efficiency goals and grow in our global markets while further enhancing the range of products and services offered on our digital platform, OpenBlue."
The IQ Panel 2 Plus platform, with its peripheral accessories, has seen impressive growth in North America and around the world with future-proof features, supported with over-the-air software updates, built-in panel camera, Bluetooth "disarm" option, innovative diagnostic and installation tools to reduce costs and increase user engagement and satisfaction. Qolsys continues to have consistent growth in its services and distributors, which produced $150 million in revenue during the taxable year 2019.
"As the world becomes more connected and the innovation curve continues to rise with a speed never seen before, we are excited to join Johnson Controls," said Dave Pulling, CEO of Qolsys. Dave will be the vice president and general manager of Johnson Controls' global anti-intrusion products division, which earned $500 million in revenue during the taxable year 2019.
Qolsys recently announced products from its roadmap including the IQ Hub, a low-priced, third-generation IQ panel; the IQ Router, a state-of-the-art mesh networking solution that serves homes with a touch of elegance with fast and complex connections; the IQ Water, a connected valve for water supply disruption designed to modernize the mass market; and a fourth-generation IQ panel to launch in 2021 with a Qualcomm auxiliary circuit that supports AI, M2M and next-generation connectivity.
Johnson Controls will offer Qolsys products in all global markets. The IQ Panel 2 Plus and a full line of security and home automation devices are now available from authorized Qolsys dealers.
